Oak Bureau Desk with Barley Twist Legs and Painted Green Interior
Oak Bureau Desk with Barley Twist Legs and Painted Green Interior
This vintage oak barley twist bureau has been stripped of its original finish, treated with colour washes to give a raw oak, rustic patina, and then varnished with a wax finish varnish for durability and to add a soft sheen. The interior desk area is painted with beautiful green to add a pop of interest when the desk is open. The pretty handles have been cleaned and gold gilt added to make them shine.
The pull down desk area has a key which locks. There are cubby holes and a drawer to store all your essential items and a large area for writing or housing a laptop. The bottom section has two spacious drawers, each with solid bases and dovetail joints. The drawer interiors have been cleaned and varnished. This is a rustic piece with signs of age and some historic woodworm in places, but it is solid and sound and has lots of charm.

All my work is refinished with great care and attention to detail using the best quality furniture paints which are as environmentally friendly as possible. My pieces are all antique, vintage and always pre-loved and therefore may show minor signs of their past life with the occasional dent or ding. Major imperfections are always repaired, but I believe small marks show the piece's history and add to its charm. Any signs of historic woodworm are treated as a matter of course.
